Broken Bells is a new project from Danger Mouse and James Mercer of the Shins. I have an inkling that "The High Road" is just the beginning for this this melodic and experimental collaboration capable of fleshing out some real hits in the future.Lucky for us, their original music is just as good as the many remixes they both lay claim to.

This lethal combination of chillout and lo-fi creates a mesmerizing hypnotic sound lulling you into a relaxed and vulnerable state. If you want something to throw on when you're crashing, drinking, or even staying up to do a ton of work, don't hit skip on this one ... Punk.

So what does gangsta rap and a minimalist ethereal rock band have in common? Almost nothing but this mash up in particular bridges that gap by reshaping their musical designs and fashioning new memories out of old ones. Iceland's Sigur Ros feeds into a verse by one of hip-hop's most revered tracks of the 1990s - Shook Ones (Pt. II).
