Vice & Easy

"You take the blue pill, the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes"

Thinking about tomorrow I can smell the new year. It's hard to believe I can barely remember this past year let alone my whole life, but I much prefer honey baked ham. How did this year fall in your book of highs? Even if you look back on 2009 with your head down and tail between your legs, would you really do it all over again?

Yeah Sure or Yes Sir? Mr. Harris - hungry for greatness - can juggle and scratch like the best of them.
Gigamesh transforms a traditional Radiohead tune into a searingly fresh sparkling slice of retro-disco. They'll be gracing America's bread basket in Minne-O tomorrow night for the 2010 debut.

Finally, this Cut Copy diamond in the rough is crammed with fantastic syncopation, who said you can't teach old cats new tricks.

Just remember, without the bitter, the sweet ain't as sweet.

"Only sick music makes money today"
-Friedrich Nietzsche

Talk about bus lagged. I wonder what I look like to passing cars. After a hulkish journey back to  the  Garden State I almost felt sorry for myself, but then remembered the elves and my pledge to papa noel to make a holiday installment on the pulse.

This Handclapper tune lies somewhere between the realms of good and great.  Their shuffly alternative approach is sprinkled with nice breaks chill enough to grab your speakers attention.

A year is all it took for Erik Hassle to make the leap from house party gigs in Sweden to international blowouts. You'll hear he's certainly come a long way from his old obsession with dodgy 80s covers. And, without missing a beat Diplo and Amanda Blank have hijacked the charts with this Santigold remix. The rest will make you happy or you have no soul.

Discover De Crécy

Last year music migrants with a visual appetite trekked to Coachella Music Festival - one high on my list - to see the French house mixing master, Etienne De Crécy (aka Superdiscount). Clocking in at 40 years old, this guy is like a well preserved fossil in the industry. But if you think his wrinkles or bald spot slow him down, think again. His 4 dimension hi-def set with hypnotizing visuals made him the buzz of french music culture and rivals Daft Punk's monumental pyramid. You definitely won't find this in the Louvre.

Ian Carey's club-clobbering 2008 release from the Netherlands has the title 'Get Shaky' for obvious reasons. Perfect for living room listening or a dance party pump up - no matter how cold the winter gets, this hands-in-the-air track will keep you warm.

Accept the fact, Aderol is sexy. Those exams are imminent, and denial is not just a river in Egypt. Forget sleep, forget the showers, but remember the pills. Now I don't know too much about anything, but I happen to know a lot about everything, and REM Cycles = urban legend. So park it in the library and enjoy those 4 a.m. walks back to your dorm where you can finally be your weird self and howl at moon in peace with Zero 7 and the Shakes.

Junkie Revolution

A band victim to Bohemian lifestyle, The Brian Jonestown Massacre is noted for their Shoegaze influence and creative edge. BJM offers a pastiche of 60s pyscadelic rock in combination with a unique 90s sound, contemporary blues, and satanic tambourine.

Fluent in over 80 instruments, Anton Newcombe (founder of BJM) is a truly bizarre individual nothing short of a musical genius. Leading a band which has cycled over 40 members in the past 19 years, Newcombe has remained the focal point of the band and spokesman for their revolution.

Hooked on music as much as drugs, BJM alternates between states of oblivion, self destruction, and pure ingenuity. Rarely finishing a show before an onstage intergroup feud, the band’s eccentricities have robbed them of the spotlight and always kept them just shy of success.

So cancel your plans this afternoon and get lost with Jonestown - - A band you’ll love to hate and hate to love - - enjoy.

These aren't any sugar coated fairy tales, and certainly are not suitable to play around any pregnant chicks. Zion I keeps it relatively PG, while Big L raps about smokin' white kids like cigarettes. Brace yourself for some old school filth.

Stuck in a Mau5Trap

Ahead of his time or out of his mind? If you look into his eyes you can see there's absolutely nothing dead about him. As a rising giant in the industry, every song he spits out brings him one step closer to finding his cheese.

There's nothing I hate more than a stale fortune cookie. I usually crush these worthless cardboard tasting treats under the table and grind them into the restaurant's tablecloth out of pure spite. But following one buffet experience my fortune read, "to be mature, is to accept one's imperfections" - the only one worth keeping to date. I think the king of pop might have drawn his inspiration for this remade classic from that same exact cookie.

Rhymefest feat. Michael Jackson - Man In The Mirror
