Coeur de Pirate (Béatrice Martin) is simple, sweet, and very french. She's been playing the piano since the age of three and makes excellent use of the ivories in Comme Des Enfants. Her voice is youthful and borderline childish...reminds me of warm, buttery croissants, yum.

Starring is a stand out track off the Freelance Wales self-titled debut album, Weathervanes, released back in August 2009. Due to my naivety I never took much notice of their hype however look out as they already have a fairshare of festivals prepared for 2010. The song almost makes me want to throw on lose fitting clothes and frolic through a field, skipping and picking daises along the way.

The secret to pruning out those B & C grade jams in your library from the A-level treats is recognition. If you can remember when and where you first heard a track then you know it's top notch. These remixes all do a wonderful job of coming up with completely different sounds while maintaining the familiarity of the original. Too many remixes rest on the laurels of the success of the original track, feeling hesitant to venture into uncharted territory with the original track as their compass. In this regard O-God, Archigram, and Justin Faust all deserve commendation for taking a chance and yielding terrific results, especially the banging missy bootleg undoubtedly worthy of soundtracking your weekend.

The Last Leg

"Hard work beats talent when talent ain't working hard enough"

Only two days remain until my current sophomore standing becomes a thing of the past. In attempt to pass I promised myself I'd refrain from sifting through beats and blogs and instead freakishly fix my eyes on supply and demand graphs until they crust closed or cry (whichever comes first). Don't worry though, these tests are sweating ink just thinking about the savage attack of my stylist.

Before you accuse me of being as boring as your brofessor lets move on to the music. This foursome comes highly reccomended from various friends and family - fellow blog angels, generously plucking tracks from the heavens of the blogosphere since I couldn't find time to harvest such treasures myself. You may find yourself taking these wherever you go for a while - whether its the classroom or the club.

For the longest time I thought softball was a sport for burly, big boned lesbians whose sexiest garment is their older brothers' baggy gym shorts, but I guess there's an exception to every rule.
